About Mary & Gerry
Mary Button has run more than 25 marathons, including several Boston Marathons. She has qualified for the Olympic Marathon Trials in 1996 and in 2000. Her proudest running achievement is her participation in the 2000 Olympic Marathon Trials as a master runner. Her husband, family and friends joined her in Columbia to cheer her on and celebrate the race. If you would like to ask Mary Button a question about running, please check out the RaceReady blog! Gerry Hans has run over 10 marathons, and about 10 times as many half-marathons. During the past few years he has averaged 6 half-marathons per year. He has run Boston a few times and has a marathon Personal Record of 3:16. Gerry is active with several civic organizations, and keeps a careful eye on protecting "open space" in the community. For the last year he has been serving on a community working group tasked to re-write the Master Plan for a local regional park, of which its original ($400,000) version had very mis-guided goals. See www.SaveGriffithPark.org Gerry and Mary enjoy running, and both prefer doing most of their running on trails. They can often be found along the trails in Griffith Park, the nation's largest "urban park" located near their business in Glendale, California. Recently Gerry and Mary travelled to Sonoma Valley to run the Carneros Napa-Sonoma Half Marathon. It was a great trip and super half course. It's nice to start a race when the legs aren't trashed from working an expo booth for the previous two days! |
